A Tag Along camping tour is usually an organised convoy of 4WDrivers in a group with experienced leaders with very well equipped vehicles. It’s usually a tour you pay for and the price depends on the length and destination of the tour and what is being supplied by the organisers eg. food, tents, camping equipment.

If you have a 4WD vehicle and want to go touring but are not comfortable heading off alone. The tag along type tours are an excellent way to get experience and meet fellow adventurers. You will also have the security of assistance if required and back up supplies.
Some 4WDriving experience will most likely be necessary depending on the roughness of the terrain, especially the remote areas, you may need to drive on sand, cross creeks or small rivers, very rough tracks, steep inclines or down hills. Driver training lessons are available if required.

The tag along operators/leaders will have done the trip many times before and they will have the information about current road and weather conditions, permits required and where fuel and supplies can be purchased and tourist information.

You will also find that the tag along camping tour operators know of the out of way places hidden in remote areas that you may not find if travelling by yourselves. The also know what areas are worth visiting and where the best campgrounds are. Australia has some amazing natural features that are not publicised and are quite often just down a side road or in walking distance from the campground.
