The peace and quiet of camping in the bush can be the ultimate experience for relaxation, you can be rejuvenated and recharged and won’t need to recover.
You can make a very ‘green’ holiday, by taking a few extra steps you can help conserve our natural environment. You can be more conscious of the impact by thinking about where and how to camp. Green camping takes a little more preparation, here is a few tips to guide you.
Use reusable equipment like sturdy plates, cups, cutlery that can be washed and reused.
Use less packaging, where possible use reusable containers. Buy some of your food from a farmers market or direct from a farmer.
Use the campfire as much as possible rather than using the gas or fuel stove, most foods can be cooked on the campfire.
Use much more efficient lighting with LED lights and torches which use up to 90% less energy and use rechargable batteries.
Do not leave any rubbish or trace that you have been – take everything with you, bag up your rubbish and dispose of responsibly. Recycle bottles cans etc.
Use biodegradable detergent or soaps when washing yourself, the dishes or clothes and be at least 30 metres from any water source.
Take care with the campfire that it does not get out of control and make sure it is out before leaving.
If you Stay in National Parks or State Reserves respect the environment, habitat, wildlife and stay on designated tracks or walking trails
