In June / July 2000 we experienced our ’First Big Trip’ camping and travelling Australia. It was the most wonderful & special experience. We live in country Victoria, travelled to Central Australia, then went up the Stuart Hwy to Mataranka, Katherine, Darwin, then Kakadu and then south through Outback Queensland visiting Longreach, Charlieville and then through Ourback New South Wales to Victoria in 6 weeks and drove about 10,000kms in a 4WD Nissan Patrol. We camped in tents in most places except the first 3 days and last 2 nights we stayed in cabins.Link to Part One of the Itinerary Days 1 to 20

Day 21 – Staying at Berry Springs NT – explored Darwin
Day 22 – Stayed at Berry Springs – enjoyed water slide and relaxed
Day 23 – Staying at Berry Springs – explored Darwin
Day 24 – Staying at Berry Springs went on Croc Cruise on Adelaide River
Day 25 – Travelled to Travelled to Kakadu and stayed at Jabiru
Day 26 – Stayed at Jabiru and visited Jim Jim Falls
Day 27 – Travelled to Daly Waters Pub and camped
Day 28 – Daly Waters to Barkly Homestead
Day 29 – Barkly Homestead to Mount Isa
Day 30 – Mount Isa to Winton stayed at North Gregory Hotel
Day 31 – Winton to Longreach – went to Stockman’s Hall of Fame
Day 32 – Longreach – went to Stockman’s Hall of Fame
Day 33 – Longreach to Blackall
Day 34 – Blackall to Charlieville
Day 35 – Charlieville Camel Races and Rodeo
Day 36 = Charlieville to Bourke
Day 37 – Bourke to Dubbo
Day 38 – Visited Dubbo Zoo travelled to West Wyalong
Day 39 – West Wyalong to Shepparton
Day 40 – Shepparton to Home
That was an amazing trip. We came home with spectacular photos we always look back at with great memories, quite often it’s the little unexpected things that happen which make it more special. During that trip we promised we would go to ‘The Kimberley’ in 2003 and we did, but that’s another story……
