Adelaide – Port Augusta – Coober Pedy – Alice Springs – Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park – Watarrka National Park – back to Alice Springs – Tennant Creek – Daly Waters – Katherine – Adelaide River – Darwin
This is a suggested itinerary called ‘Explorers Way’ which travels from Southern Australia To Northern Australia.

Day 1 – Adelaide to Port Augusta
Day 2 – Port Augusta to Coober Pedy
Day 3 – Coober Pedy to Alice Springs
Day 4 – Alice Springs to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park
Day 5 – Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park to Watarrka National Park
Day 6 – Watarrka National Park to Alice Springs
Day 7 – Alice Springs to Tennant Creek
Day 8 – Tennant Creek to Daly Waters
Day 9 – Daly Waters to Katherine
Day 10 – Katherine to Adelaide River
Day 11 – Adelaide River to Darwin
11 days is the absolute minimum, to see the main attractions I would suggest at least 20 day to 30 days, then you will able to stay in most places 2 or 3 days. My family have done this trip and it absolutely amazing, if you get the opportunity take it and go. You will have a magnificent time.

You should give yourself one full day at a minimum in Coober Pedy, there is a lot to see in this most unusual underground town.
The Old Tmers Mine is the 2008 South Australian Heritage and Cultural tourism award winner and an attraction that will give you the best underground Historic experience in Coober Pedy. Done forget if you are going to visit this town you have to spend a night sleeping uinderground at the many establishments. For more information 08 86725555
Very good advice, I have been to Coober Pedy and we stayed 2 nights so we could explore the attractions, especially enjoyed the Old Timers Mine, an underground home and the uniqueness of Coober Pedy
