Visiting Kakadu National Park is an experience you will never forget, the scenery is spectaucular, wildlife is amazing and the sheer size is astounding.
Kakadu National Park is Australia’s is our largest National Park and is almost covers 20,000 square kms, that’s as large as some countries.
Kakadu is placed 257 kms east of Darwin in the Top End of Northern Territory. there is several ways to get to Kakadu, here are the main ways.
Self Drive Access is by excellent highways, from Darwin, by travelling up the Stuart Highway from Central Australia, the Barkly Highway from Queensland and the Victoria highway from the West.
4WD A 2WD will give you access to the places that have bitumen roads, but if you are feeling more adventurous and have a 4WD or have hired one you will be able to explore the more out of the way special locations.
Fly Then Drive Regular flights are scheduled for Darwin, if you would like to fly in then hire a car and drive yourself around. An even bigger adventure would be to fly into Alice Springs, Central Australia, then drive to Darwin and take in the amazing sights along the way.
Train The Ghan travels from Adelaide to Darwin (approx 3000 kms)regularly, this would be a special way to see the Outback. When you reach Darwin then you can hire a car and self drive or do tours of the area and let someone else do the driving.
Coach There are also Coach companies that run regular services to Darwin and many other destinations in Australia.
