Being prepared and ready will make your camping trip go a lot smoother and you will enjoy it much more.
Check the weather reports for where you intend to go, hopefully they will be favourable. If they are not you may have the option of going to a different location to find some better weather.
If you have new equipment check that it works and make sure you are familiar with how it works especially with a new tent. Have several practices putting it up and down and packing it back in its bag (this can be a challenge sometimes).
If you have a new camper trailer or caravan, spend more time getting familiar with it. You will need to practice backing it and get used to towing it. The more familiar you are with everything about it, your first trip out will be much easier.
Always use a checklist, this helps you remember those things that you ‘must have’. Quite often during each camping trip you will think of something else to take next time, add it to your checklist when you get home.
If you are camping in a Holiday Park you will need to take a bit less compared to bush camping as you will have amenities and usually access to shops.
You can pre prepare your first meals, take several meals that have been frozen so you can heat them up easily, like a casserole or soup. They will be defrosted by the time you need them.
Make sure you know where the campground is before you leave home, get a map from the Holiday Park or National Park etc. or search it using Google maps and print it out to take with you.
Good Luck and Enjoy Your Next Camping Trip
