Being prepared is the secret to an easy camping trip. Camping trips can be fun and exciting and easy to look forward too. There is a few questions you can use as a checklist when you are planning, when you have answered these questions you will much more organised and departing will be much easier.
Who Is Going? Your family, mates, other families, add up how many adults and kids or how many campsites you will need, powered or unpowered.
When can everyone go? Workout when it suits your family & everyone else, if you are staying somewhere for several weeks
Where can you go? Big Decision if you are trying to find somewhere new or maybe you have a regular campsite you go to. If you are looking for a new campsite, you will find plenty of suggestions on the internet, trying searching for ‘free camping’ bush camping’ ‘campsites or campgrounds’ and add the state, territory or town for a better search.
How long? Ask everyone how long they have available, the length of time may vary for different campers so coordinate to suit. You could work out who can stay the longest and then other campers can camp during that time.
What meals? Does each group cater for themselves or is everyone cooks a meal and share it together.
What will you do there? Find out what facilities & activities are available – swimming, fishing, bushwalking, ball games, photography etc
Is your equipment ready? Check your gear is ready to use, if you have new equipment check it works and you know how to use it properly.
Ready, Set, Go! If you have done the above list you will well be ready to go, check you know where to go and actually fin the campsite without have to go around in circles find it, the car has been checked – tyres, fuel etc, also locked the house.
