Dreamworld celebrates its 30th birthday in 2011, and there has never been a better time to visit as Australia’s favourite theme park goes all out with a host of additions including a bone chilling new thrill ride, BuzzSaw.

The biggest year ever for the iconic entertainment destination, Dreamworld has added a new exotic animal exhibit, ‘The Lair’, a new adventure ride, ‘ShockWave’ and now a major thrill ride so extreme it will boost the park’s Big 6 Thrill Rides to the Big 7.

Opening in time for the September school holiday period, BuzzSaw is an Australian first and will be the ride to conquer for high-action adrenaline seekers.

This white-knuckle ride starts with a suspenseful 46m vertical ascent that will have riders instantly wishing they were back on the ground.

At its peak, the rider’s centre of gravity is flipped and they are dangled upside-down 15 storeys in the air before the ride car free-falls through a 360 degree heart roll, and plummets down a final vertical drop at speeds of up to 105km/hour. BuzzSaw will be the highest inversion ride experience in the Southern Hemisphere.

** WHITE LIONS @ DREAMWORLD **
Dreamworld will open the doors to a brand new exotic animal exhibit known as The Lair. For the first time ever on the Gold Coast, Dreamworld guests will be able to get up close to two rare White Lions as they roam around the new enclosure for this school holiday period only. Guests will enter a traditional Timbavati village and learn about the plight of one of the world’s most rare big cats and discover the Zulu significance of spotting a White Lion. As guests venture deeper into the village they reach a rocky outcrop and come face to face with The White Lion. The highly interactive exhibit allows guests to literally walk alongside the jungle kings and come face to face with them feeling their breath through slatted panels, all safely behind purpose built, triple laminated, toughened glass, built to withstand the force of a 200kg lion.

** WHITEWATER WORLD CABANA’S **
For the introductory price of $89 you can rent one of 12 new WhiteWater World Cabanas for a full day providing you with a private space to enjoy some relaxation out of the sun and away from the crowds. Located throughout WhiteWater World, Cabanas are designed to comfortably fit up to four people and will sell out quickly so book online prior to your next visit.

** ILLUMINATE @ DREAMWORLD **
During the Easter school holidays Dreamworld will stay open late and as the sun goes down the park’s Main Street will once again be transformed into a light and laser spectacular as the park brings back “Illuminate”. Illuminate will present the finale to the ultimate Dreamworld and WhiteWater World day with a 10 minute show, charged with four-metre high water screens, special effects, pyrotechnics, surround sound and digital image projection.

Planning a road trip is an event in itself whether you’re a travel veteran or setting off to a destination for the very first time. Alone or with other people, a road trip can be a great way to see new places, meet new people, and arrive at your destination in an affordable and practical way. These five tips for planning your next road trip will not only guarantee a less stressful road trip, but plenty of memorable experiences along the way.

1. Eat as healthy as you can: While this might sound like generic advice for healthy living, food is actually a big part of a road trip. New restaurants and late night diners offer interesting menus, and fuel stations offer coffee and all kinds of snacks. You will obviously have to eat during your road trip, and if you make healthier decisions you’ll be able to function at driving, managing your route, and so on at a higher level. It might sound like an afterthought, but staying hydrated and making healthy choices for food will save you from late night sugar crashes and unwanted headaches.

2. Plan your route well, including backup routes: Sometimes a spontaneous turn here and there can end in complete disaster, and if your trip involves a fairly regulated timetable then knowing your route is absolutely essential. If there are multiple drivers in your road trip, going over the route beforehand should be a must to make sure everyone is on the same page. Longer trips require more planning, and the more attention you give the planning the smoother the trip will go for you.

3. Know what to do in case of emergencies: Everything from intense weather, car trouble, getting sick, and the failure of technology like GPS devices and cell phones can and usually do happen on road trips. Bringing extra supplies, knowing how to fix your vehicle in the case of highway emergency, and even having contact numbers for experts and your insurance can remedy the most dire of situations quickly. If you plan for the absolute worst, you’ll always be prepared to handle anything your adventure might throw at you.

4. Be honest about your own limitations and work with them: This is especially true for long road trips where only a few people are able to drive, or drives taking place on unfamiliar roads at night. Knowing when you are truly tired, sleepy, or sick will help you make responsible decisions. Sometimes it really is worth it to pull over and take a cat nap, or to crash in a hotel before moving on to a fresh start the next day. The less exhausted and frustrated you are, the easier you’ll be able to enjoy the fun of the road trip.

5. Do your best to relax: Music, talking with your travel companions, admiring the scenery, and so on are keys to keeping your stress level low and enjoying your time on the road. Take the opportunity to get out of the car to stretch and walk around often, every hour if possible, in order to keep your body and mind in the best condition.

Planning your next road trip and giving attention to eating healthy, plotting your route well, preparing yourself for emergencies, knowing your own limitations, and doing your best to relax will ensure a smooth, enjoyable trip. Road trips are just as much about the journey as the destination, and keeping these things in mind will make your next road trip the best one so far.

I have been to Sydney three times now, with my parents many years ago, with our local primary school to see the Paralympics in 2000 and last June long weekend.

We flew in from Melbourne airport. Driving to Sydney would have taken all day so we chose to fly, we were only in the air for about 50 minutes, flying is a great time saver.

We stayed with a family that we met at Ayers Rock Resort 10 years ago, so it was a 10 year anniversary of when we met. Every year since we met we have arranged to meet them and holiday somewhere in Australia. We have been to the Kimberley, Central Australia twice, Fraser Island twice, Noosa several times, Murray River houseboat cruise and more. All wonderful trips and adventures.

As they are Sydney locals we went on several tourist drives that certainly gave a new outlook on Sydney and gave us a better understanding of how massive Sydney is. When you go to Sydney the highlights are Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, it doesn’t matter how many times you see them they are always stunning and worth seeing.

There are many Things to do in Sydney, everyone that visits should visit the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. There ia also plenty more to see and do like the Rocks, go on a harbour cruise, visit Taronga Zoo and Luna Park.

Sydney has some beautiful very popular beaches to visit like Bondi as it very close to the city we also visited Cronulla beach and several other beaches which had a few brave surfers catching the waves! It was way to cold for swimming!

If you are planning to visit Sydney and looking for more adventure how about an amazing full throttle jet boat ride in the harbour, see the unique harbour views while going flat out sliding and aplashing in all directions.

If you want the best view of Sydney try the Skywalk on top of Sydney Tower only 260 metres above ground level. Of course you will be wearing Skysuits and harnesses for your own safety. What A View!!

Many cruises on the harbour can be enjoyed as well as sea plane flights, aerobatic flights, sky diving, rock climbing in the Blue Mountains, drive a racing car around Eastern Creek race track, Harley rides, hot air ballooning and so much more.

Fathers Day is not far away so start thinking about a present sooner rather than later. The above activities would make excellent Fathers Day Gifts as well as the more sedate adventure activities suitable for all Dads.

—————————————————————————

Start planning your road trip adventure.
